Meadow High School, Uxbridge

Date: 2022 – 2024
Location: Uxbridge
Services: Full MEP coordination and BIM

An £11 million project at Meadow High School, which is a mixed-gender special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school, located in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Project background

The existing school site required refurbishment to maintain and improve conditions for students and staff. The goal was to create a safe and suitable environment for the school. This is part of the Local Authority’s plans for improving SEND provision and capacity in the local area, in line with an increasing need for these services.

A new two-story teaching block was planned to increase teaching space, along with a new, multi-use games area. Plans also included landscaping and revised vehicle access to support access by SEND students and their families.

MultiCAD was selected by Swiftline to provide MEP co-ordination and BIM for this project.

MultiCAD’s expert team provided

MultiCAD carried out full MEP coordination including full BIM to PAS1192-2 on the client’s Common Data Environment (CDE) and COBie specifications, at each information exchange, in line with the Asset Information Requirements (AIDP).

Revit, as the industry standard software, was used to create the designs and ensure seamless information exchange for all project stakeholders.

Main challenges

Project timelines were tight, to fit with the schedule of the school year. The plans required all works be completed by September 2024, and it was understood from the start this would demand a high level of co-ordination between project partners and highly accurate design work, to mitigate the risks of delays and rework on site.

MultiCAD’s expert technicians routinely provide high quality designs with a fast turnaround, to ensure our clients have the best support towards meeting project deadlines.

Solutions provided

Our team provided fully co-ordinated MEP designs to support efficient installation of all the required services. Full BIM (building information models) were also provided, giving a single source of project information for all construction partners and other specialised sub-contractors.

Ensuring the site is fit for purpose for its end users is of critical importance for the client, including adhering to timelines that minimised disruption to the school’s yearly cycle. MultiCAD understood all these challenges and provided high-quality designs, within the timescales required. Their clear communication and pragmatic approach were a huge benefit in getting this project delivered safely and efficiently.
